Andrew Yaffa Featured in Miami Media on Stem Cell Malpractice

As Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen continues to seek justice for those affected by stem cell therapy malpractice, GRYC partner Andrew Yaffa sat down with WTVJ-NBC 6 South Florida to discuss this unproven treatment.

Yaffa is nationally renowned for his expertise as a stem cell malpractice attorney and NBC’s investigative team spoke with him to learn why patients should think twice before visiting an unregulated clinic.

In his interview, Yaffa shared that stronger action must be taken to monitor the rise of unregulated  South Florida clinics where stem cell malpractice can occur, “They need to do a whole lot more,” he said. “That means putting strict rules and regulations to prevent these clinics from opening up.”

The segment also mentions GRYC stem cell lawsuit client Doris Tyler, who became a victim of malpractice after Cell Surgical Network referred her to an affiliate Georgia clinic, where fat-derived stem cells were injected directly into her eyes. Tyler came to the clinic in search of a cure for her macular degeneration, and she is now completely blind after receiving the injections. Yaffa represents Tyler in her lawsuit against Cell Surgical Network, which operates the clinic, and the doctors who treated her.

With recent estimates showing there are now roughly 1,000 clinics in the United States performing similar stem cell operations, some fear that incidents like Tyler’s will become increasingly common. The FDA has started taking action against this unregulated industry by sending warning letters across the country to operators like Cell Surgical Network.
