Florida law provides its citizens the chance to retain their supreme court justices or remove them based on their ethics and fitness for office. Merit retention was never intended to be a political tool to remove justices with integrity like LaBarga & Perry whose vote on one issue is politically unpopular with one group. In this case, these justices are being singled out for their vote to strike from the ballot an amendment to exempt Floridians from health care reform.
