Rachel Furst and Eric T. Halsey Named Partners at Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen

Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen, leading Florida medical malpractice and personal injury trial lawyers, today announced Rachel Furst and Eric T. Halsey have been promoted to partners at the firm.

Rachel Furst leads the appellate practice at Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen and works with the firm’s clients to navigate the appeals process. Through her experience, she has gained unique skills that assist with developing the best strategies for challenging judicial decisions. Prior to joining Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen, Furst was a member of an international law firm’s practice in the commercial litigation department. She also worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Ursula Ungaro, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. She has been with the firm for nearly four years and was promoted to partner from the associate level. 

Furst’s academic merits include a bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, where she also graduated Magna Cum Laude. Furst is the former symposium editor for the Florida Law Review and current member of the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  She also serves on the board of the Federal Bar Association of South Florida. Outside of the legal profession, Furst is a board member of the City of Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority, Lotus House, and the MiMo Biscayne Association.

Eric Halsey is also an accomplished trial lawyer, whose practice at Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen is primarily focused on medical malpractice disputes. He is a tort litigation expert with experience in wrongful death, slip and fall, cruise line negligence, landowner negligence, negligent security, and motor vehicle accident lawsuits. Halsey has defended health care providers in medical malpractice cases as well, and successfully led complex medical malpractice, trucking and negligent security trial teams throughout Florida. He has been at the firm for nearly three years and was previously an associate as well.

Halsey graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University, with a bachelor’s degree in communication and received a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. Halsey is a contributing member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Florida Justice Association, American Association for Justice, Miami-Dade County Bar Association and the South Palm Beach County Bar Association. He has repeatedly been recognized for his professional excellence by the Florida Super Lawyers, “Rising Star Award” eight years straight, from 2009 to 2016.  In addition, he has been listed in The National Trial Lawyers publication’s “Top 40 Under 40” list, and the 2017 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s “40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida.”
