Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen (GRYC), a South Florida based law firm well known for its unrivaled team of trial lawyers, announced that Sandy Bohrer, a local legal industry trailblazer, has joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Prior to joining GRYC, Sandy served as a partner in the Miami-based law firm of Holland & Knight for 25 years. During his time with Holland & Knight, Sandy was Co-Chair of the firm’s media law practice and served for many years as head of the firm’s litigation section’s pro bono practice. In addition to his many years of work at the trial level, Sandy has served as Lead Counsel in approximately 100 appeals. His past work includes representing Royal Caribbean Cruises and its brands in all major litigation, including employee and passenger class actions, over the span of 20 years, representing The Miami Herald and Miami New Times for decades, and representing dozens of publishers, authors, and broadcasters on matters covering the entire spectrum of media law.

Sandy started his career at the premiere civil litigation firm, Paul & Thomson where he worked closely with preeminent American lawyers Parker Thomson and Dan Paul. The firm is widely known for arguing the landmark case Miami Herald Publishing Co. v. Tornillo before the Supreme Court of the United States. The decision established the principle that government could not force a newspaper to publish content.
Outside of his practice, Sandy is a respected legal scholar whose publications and teachings have helped countless attorneys refine their ability to litigate in complex and highly specialized areas of law. He currently serves as a Lecturer at the University of Miami’s School of Communication, where he teaches several courses and is a member of the Boards of Citrus Health Network in Miami and Prevent Child Abuse America, a national organization.
