Allergan Textured Breast Implant Lawsuits

Top-Rated Miami Lawyers Dedicated to Fighting for Your Rights

In 2019, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) implemented a serious recall, a Class I recall, on Allergan Natrelle® BIOCELL® textured breast implants and products. The reason being that these implants were found to present a heightened risk of developing breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), six times higher than other implants.

If you or someone you love has Allergan Natrelle® BIOCELL® textured breast implants, you may qualify for compensation. For instance, you could be compensated for medical bills associated with implant and explant surgeries and the emotional distress of knowing you have been put at an increased risk for cancer.

At Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen, our attorneys firmly believe that companies and corporations should put safety over profit. Allergan’s manufacture of these implants is unacceptable. That’s why we are passionate about advocating for you in your case against Allergan. Put our decades of experience and acclaimed trial skills on your side.

Who Is Eligible to File an Allergan Textured Breast Implant Lawsuit?

Allergan should have tested its products to ensure they were safe for consumers and when risks were apparent, they should have stopped manufacturing these products or warned consumers. Allergan can be held legally liable if its products caused you to develop BIA-ALCL.

We can assist you in determining if you have a claim against Allergan by reviewing your medical records and thoroughly investigating your case.

The range of Allergan products under FDA recall is extensive, including:

  • Allergan Natrelle® Saline-Filled Textured Breast Implants
  • Allergan Natrelle® Silicone-Filled Textured Breast Implants
  • Allergan Natrelle® 410 Highly Cohesive Anatomically Shaped Silicone-Filled Textured Breast Implants

Allergan Natrelle® 133 Plus Tissue Expanders and Allergan Natrelle® 133 Tissue Expanders with Suture Tabs were also recalled. To see the full list of recalled Allergan products, please visit the voluntary recall notice here. It is recommended that you also contact your surgeon to verify which implant you received.

What Is a Textured Breast Implant?

Textured breast implants are teardrop implants with a thick outer shell that resembles sandpaper. The design was created to help the implant adhere to soft tissue with greater success than other types of implants. Many patients opt for these implants not only for their efficacy but also because they often make for more natural results.

What Is BIA-ALCL?

BIA-ALCL is a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, not a type of breast cancer. Typically, it develops in the scar tissue and fluid near a textured breast implant and, if left untreated, will metastasize to other parts of the body. It is very rare for individuals to die of BIA-ALCL, as it is easily cured if caught early.

In most cases, BIA-ALCL does not fully develop until years after a person has an implant surgically inserted. It is recommended that you visit your doctor for routine cancer screenings if you have an Allergan Natrelle® BIOCELL® product. If you are not experiencing symptoms of BIA-ALCL — which include redness, lumps, pain, changes in breast size and shape, and swelling around the breast — then the FDA does not recommend that you have your implants removed.
