Amy Schaffer is an advanced certified paralegal (ACP) with a specialty certification in civil litigation who has been a paralegal since 1983. She is also a Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP). At the time of her advanced certification in 2001, she was one of only 59 certified litigation specialists in the State of Florida. Amy has been in the legal field and associated with Mr. Partridge for more than 35 years. In her capacity as paralegal with prior defense firms, she has assisted and managed complex cases in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, construction, securities and healthcare antitrust litigation. She joined the firm in 1998 when the Sarasota office of Grossman Roth and Partridge was established.

From her years of experience, she has developed a reputation of having expertise in medical research, legal research, working with experts and assisting with trial preparation. She is respected in the legal community for her medical knowledge, knowledge of civil procedure and understanding of the issues involved with these cases. She has also served the legal community in the past as a law librarian for Sarasota County.

A longtime Sarasota resident, Amy graduated from the University of South Florida, Tampa in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She also was a Master’s candidate in Speech Communication. She has carried her knowledge of legal research and health care law to the classroom where she has lectured on antitrust law to Master’s classes in hospital administration. She has also been asked to lecture to other paralegals on medical malpractice litigation and trial practice and teaches legal research and litigation practice for the paralegal certification exam.

As a paralegal with the firm, she assists with initial inquiry, witness preparation, pleadings preparation, lien issues, document production and preparation, legal and medical research, investigation of the claim, case management and in the final presentation of the case at mediation and the courtroom.
