Sandy Bohrer is a highly skilled and widely respected attorney who has played an integral role in shaping Miami’s rich history in the legal industry and beyond. He is an experienced trial lawyer who joined Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen in an Of Counsel capacity after serving as a partner in the Miami-based law firm of Holland & Knight for 25 years. During his time with Holland & Knight, Sandy was Co-Chair of the firm’s media law practice and served for many years as head of the firm’s litigation section’s pro bono practice.

In addition to his many years of work at the trial level, Sandy has served as Lead Counsel in approximately 100 appeals. His past work includes representing Royal Caribbean Cruises and its brands in all major litigation, including employee and passenger class actions, over the span of 20 years, representing The Miami Herald and Miami New Times for decades, and representing dozens of publishers, authors, and broadcasters on matters covering the entire spectrum of media law.

Outside of his practice, Sandy is a respected legal scholar whose publications and teachings have helped countless attorneys refine their ability to litigate in complex and highly specialized areas of law. He is the author of “’Tolerance’ is shallow; ‘acceptance’ goes way deeper,” an op ed piece published in The Miami Herald, and “Why I Hate Speech,” which was published on Michael Smerconish’s website. He has also co-authored several articles published in the Miami Law Review on matters related to criminal law.

Sandy currently serves as a Lecturer at the University of Miami’s School of Communication, where he teaches a number of courses, including Children and the Media and Hate, The Media, and Free Speech. He is a member of the Boards of Citrus Health Network in Miami and Prevent Child Abuse America, a national organization.

Sandy has garnered widespread respect and esteem from his colleagues over the course of his career, as well as some of the profession’s highest accolades. This includes years of inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America in five separate categories, including Intellectual Property Litigation and Media Law, and his 2018 selection as a Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year in First Amendment Law.
