Stuart Grossman Receives Public Service Award for Work on Behalf of Victims of the Champlain Towers Collapse
Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen is proud to announce that Stuart Grossman was a recipient of the Steven J. Sharp Public Service Award for his work on behalf of victims of the 2021 Champlain Towers South condo collapse. The award, given by the American Association for Justice, recognizes plaintiffs and the attorneys of plaintiffs whose cases help tell the story of the American civil justice system.
Ninety-eight people were killed in the collapse, one of the deadliest structural engineering failures in history. The court-appointed attorneys who worked on the cases poured all their energy into uncovering every detail, following the leads that would reveal all the responsible entities. Ultimately, within one year, their efforts helped the families of victims whose lives were devastated by this horrific tragedy.
The team's work was about more than justice for the victims and survivors. It was about ensuring that no other families suffer the same tragedy. As a result, new safety laws were passed by the Florida legislature including regular mandated inspections for residential complexes and the timely repair of any deterioration.
We are incredibly proud of Stuart, and the other attorneys, who worked tirelessly to achieve a landmark settlement at an unprecedented speed and to provide victims and their families with some measure of justice.
